Eixarcolant is a collective that focuses on recovering seeds from thousands of wild edible species and traditional agricultural varieties from the northeast region of Spain. The project aims to promote biodiversity and strives to transform the current food system by recovering and disseminating these forgotten plants – many of which are at risk of disappearing. Eixarcolant organizes public events and circulates publications that emphasize the significance of the plants they work with, as well as the impact of consuming local and seasonal products. The collective produces and sells products derived from the plant varieties they recover in order to participate as a model of sustainable rural development and offer dignity in agricultural labor.
