How does it work?

The Critical Seed Library focuses on raising awareness and providing seeds for resistant edible plants to address pressing issues like climate change, social inequality, and the growing strain on natural resources and ecosystems. The Critical Seed Library website serves as a hub, bringing together various seed-saving organizations, sharing knowledge about the seeds they grow and explaining how to obtain them. On this website you'll find three sections– each section dedicated to a different type of resistance– with descriptions and information about selected plant species.

If you’re interested in obtaining seeds for any of these plants, you can find the name of the seed-saving organization that cultivates each plant listed below any description. While you cannot request seeds directly through this website, you can contact the seed-saving organization for the specific plant you’re interested in seeding.
