Seeds of Climate Change
CITRULLUS LANATUS
Síndria de secà is a variety of watermelon from the Catalunya region of northeastern Spain– it is a watermelon attuned to this unique Mediterranean climate. Síndria de secà, being tolerant to high temperatures and long periods of drought should be planted in the regions experiencing these specific impacts of climate change. The fruit is a relatively small watermelon, between 2 and 4 kilos. It has a smooth, very light-colored characteristic skin. The flesh is red, a little crunchy, very juicy and quite sweet. It is particularly notable because the fruit can be stored for more than two months after being harvested.
